  1. Is Club Quake the "official" supporters club for the Earthquakes?
  2. We were established under the direction of the original Clash management and we are the largest supporters club in San Jose.

In addition, Club Quake works closely with the team to negotiate member benefits, access to players and staff, and improvements to stadium atmosphere. However, our opinions, communications, merchandise, and activities are fan-generated and are not subject to team or league approvals.

In essence, members get the best of both worlds: a club that works well with the team but is not beholden to them.

  3. With Board Members, Bylaws, Articles of Incorporation, and such, you sound like you're running a company...
  4. Club Quake is a non-profit, social group first, not a company. We're hoping someday to build an organization that can support hundreds, or perhaps thousands, of members. The business infrastructure will ultimately create a lot of new and unique opportunities for the club.

  5. Does Club Quake have a special section in Spartan Stadium?
  6. Club Quake members are scattered throughout Spartan. Some of our most passionate and vocal members will be standing in the Casbah and 1906 Ultras sections as the Quakes begin play at their new home, Buck Shaw Stadium at Santa Clara University.

  7. Why haven't I heard of you?
  8. Our goal has always been slow, manageable growth and to make certain to deliver on all that we promise to our members. We are as visible as we need to be in order to maintain this healthy balance.

  9. What's the difference between Club Quake, the Casbah, and 1906 Ultras?
  10. Club Quake, Casbah, and 1906 Ultras all share a commitment to helping ensure the future of professional soccer in San Jose.

Club Quake has a much larger and diverse membership, including many families and couples, who prefer to support the team from their seats along the sidelines.

The Casbah remains a fiercely traditional, standing section dedicated to bringing a European-style atmosphere to the stadium, while still maintaining a family-friendly atmosphere (minimal foul language, good sportsmanship, etc.). From 2001 to 2005, Club Quake and the Casbah were merged into one organization in order to leverage the strengths of each club, but starting in 2008 the Casbah will operate as a separate entity. Club Quake will continue to cooperate with the Casbah, however.

The 1906 Ultras plan to provide a more raucus alternative standing section on the opposite end of the stadium from the Casbah. They were formed in 2007 to support the California Victory in the USL First Division, and have adopted the Earthquakes starting in 2008. They are based primarily in San Francisco.

Club Quake supports the efforts of both groups and is hoping to do much more with them to energize the stadium atmosphere while focusing on activities off the field, such as tailgates, parties, and road trips to away games.

  11. Do I have to be a club member to join the Casbah or 1906 Ultras?
  12. Anyone can stand with either supporters group at any time. Both groups, however, will offer formal membership. See their respective Web sites for more information.

  13. I love your club pins, shirts and caps. Do I have to be a member to purchase them?
  14. Sorry, Club Quake merchandise is no longer being sold through the Web site.

  15. Where does all the money go?
  16. We often ask ourselves this question, usually as we're writing another check to pay the bills. As a legally registered non-profit, all money collected is used to cover club expenses. Club officers receive no direct compensation for their time.

  17. I have a great idea for merchandise or an event, or, I have a complaint. Who do I talk to?
  18. We welcome all input, provided it is constructive. The club will only be successful if we meet the needs of our members. So if you have an idea or comment, we'd love to hear it. Use the appropriate email address on the Contact Us page! But be prepared for us to ask for your help in making it happen. We're always looking for volunteers!
