Annual meeting and viewing party May 17

A message from Club Quake President, Michelle Selincourt...

Dear Club Quake Members

WE ARE BACK - Yes the San Jose Earthquakes are back in force and so are we, the fans.

Club Quake is holding its Annual Meeting combined with a viewing Party on Saturday May 17th at the Britannia Arms Almaden.

The meeting will run from 2:00-4:00pm and the viewing party from 4.30pm. Club Quake will be offering our members free hot dogs, burgers, etc., during the meeting. If you are not a Club Quake member yet, don't worry - you can join at any of the games or on the day of the meeting.

The viewing party will be the San Jose Earthquakes v New England Revolution, which is only being televised on HDNet (not viewable on Comcast cable). So join your fellow fans and cheer on our team in HD!

Also, please note that we will be organizing buses from San Jose to Oakland for both of the LA Galaxy home games, on June 14th and August 3rd. More details will be announced as the date draws near.

If you are interested in joining the Club Quake board please contact me at michelle.selincourt@clubquake.org - we look forward to welcoming new members to the board to continue to help support the team.

I look forward to hearing from you and seeing you at the games and the meeting.

Go Quakes!

Quakes Fans Descend Upon LA for Opener

Earthquakes fans made the trip down to LA for the season opener on Thursday, April 3, filling up the corner section 117 of the Home Depot Center and cheering themselves hoarse for the new Earthquakes team in the first California Derby of 2008. Although disappointed with the result, it was great to see our team in action at last.

Prior to the game there was a tailgate party (no BBQ but plenty of beverages and chips) in the parking lot as the Casbah and Ultras got to know one another and prepare for the game. When we got to our seats none other than team owner Lew Wolff made a brief appearance to greet the fans!

If you've never made a trip to an Earthquakes away game, consider it. Talk to Club Quake if you are planning on it, and maybe we can put you in touch with other San José fans at the game, even if it's not an official Club Quake outing.

Bus to Oakland; Fans Anticipate Home Opener

The first home game of 2008 for the Earthquakes will be held at the McAfee Coliseum in Oakland against the Chicago Fire, on Saturday, April 12 at 1:30 pm. Club Quake and the Britannia Arms have organized a bus and BBQ for this game. For just $25, fans can ride from the Almaden Brit to the game and back, and it includes a BBQ dinner at the Brit afterward! The bus leaves the Almaden Brit at 12 noon, and after the game returns to the Brit for dinner. Note: parking at the Coliseum for one car is $15!

If you can't take the bus, drive or take BART and meet us there. We will have similar buses to the two Oakland games against the LA Galaxy on June 14 and August 3.

See our Events page for more information about this and other events.

Season Tickets On Sale Now

The Earthquakes have announced the seating plan and pricing for 2008 season tickets at Buck Shaw Stadium. View the details on the team Web site. The package includes 13 games in Santa Clara and 4 in Oakland at the Coliseum.

Special note: Members of the two supporters sections, The Casbah and 1906 Ultras, will have special sections set aside with special pricing ($306 per person). Supporters need to reserve their season tickets to ensure the section size and exclusivity!

City Council Unanimously Approves Further Stadium Talks

On Tuesday, November 6, the San José City Council unanimously approved plans to continue exclusive negotiation with Lew Wolff's ownership group about building a stadium near Mineta San José Airport, funded by a rezoning of some land in Edenvale. For details, see the Soccer Silicon Valley Blog which features minute-by-minute reporting on the meeting.
